A Treaty put in place between the United States and France. It was a defensive alliance between the two signed by King Louis XVI and the Second Continental Congress.
This design represents the two countries coming together through the Alliance. France was crucial to our victory over Britain, seeing how they were long-time enemies, to begin with. Losing much of their land in the French and Indian War.
Benjamin Franklin’s celebrity status in France helped win French support for the United States during this time.
